Dahkla Oasis, Western Sahara Desert
Dahkla Oasis, Western Sahara Desert
Oasis:(-ss) n. pl. o·a·ses (-sz)
  1. A fertile or green spot in a desert or wasteland, made so by the presence of water.
  2. A situation or place preserved from surrounding unpleasantness; a refuge: an oasis of serenity amid chaos.

The Oasis is YMX's help for hurting youth workers. Being in youth ministry can be tough to say the least. While there are many times of joy, there are also deep times of sorrow. As with anyone who has "shepherded a flock" of teenagers knows, sometimes sheep bite. And it hurts! YMX has some ways to help you when sheep bite. One of the goals of YMX is to provide a place of refuge, an oasis of serenity in the chaos of ministry. We're youth workers and we know that sometimes things are happening in your life and you don't know who you can turn to. We want to help!

Here are some things we are currently offering as a service to our members. (Premium membership not required)

  • Prayer. Simply post your prayer request, as vague or as specific as you'd like, in our Spiritual Care section of the forums. This community is incredible and they will pray for you.
  • Advice. Perhaps the best thing we can offer is access to other people in ministry via our forums. If you are looking for advice about a church or ministry situation, want it free from the prying eyes of the general public but still want a wide scope of people to see it, start a topic in any premium area of the site.
  • Need privacy? We have set up an area of our site that is only accessible to members of our Oasis team and admins/moderators of the site. This area operates on the Las Vegas Rule: What happens there stays there. Who is on the Oasis team? Youth ministry professionals that have been around the block a few times and are passionate about serving hurting shepherds. If you'd like us to set up a private thread, please e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
  • Links galore! Head over to our links section and you will see a section called "Resources for hurting youth workers." These are articles and links to ministries that may be able to help you. Got a link that we don't have, submit it!

Here are some things we are working on and dreaming about.
